The packaging of this release is spot on, a beautiful un-lacquered CD inlay with a nice fold over flap with a natural ink look.
Anyway packaging isn't every thing so what about the music inside. Well the CD delivers a mid paced intense punk sound that is reminiscent of early Fugazi.
The vocals tear through the sinew and bone and the razor guitars slash and cut through the power chords while the off beat drumming pulls it altogether.
Signed Forever Yours is a first rate number and HFT has a lovely insane feel to it and really does draw on the style of Fugazi.
Whilst Box the Compass have a great intensity they also demonstrate a wonderful sense of mood and emotion in their tunes. This particularly comes across in the final track Eastern Escape Routes which starts very melancholic with a picked clean electric guitar that reminds me of Dagnasty Field Day era but then when the vocals kick in you can't help but think of Farside and their powerful tunes.
Box The Compass whilst having common ground with the above mentioned bands they are by no means band wagon jumpers and their sound is of their own making and is unique in its format. There's only 7 tracks here by its enough to wet your appetite for this top band.
