BENUTS - Nutty By Nature CD (Wolverine Records)

A nice little package from Wolverine in Germany appeared and within was found the mighty sound of the Benuts and their Nutty by Nature CD.
Benuts have a really cool sound which is mainly pure ska that merges with Jamaican reggae and blends in a nice European feel for good measure.
The band sings in multiple tongues which is very reminiscent of Voodoo Glowskulls except Benut are far more superior in their ability and musicality. This band have a wicked sense of humour and I love the song Masturbation which has the awesome chorus.. "Mas-tur-ba-tion all you really need is your hands…".

There's a nice holiday feel to this album especially tracks like "Ska Summer Night" with top triumphant vocals and a keen brass section. Benuts are a excellent ska-dance band and they deliver a mighty rendition of Marvin Gaye's Dancing in the Street along with Bob Marley's Three Little Birds just to add an additional dimension to the already fine ditties that alone would have you tearing up the dance floor to the slash and cut guitar and accented drum shifts.

This is an absolutely corking album and Nutty by Nature is a must for any skankin' rude boy and in the mighty jah words of Bob "Every little thing is gonna be alright…" - too right the Benut rule and make everything alright!
