Clash Front Man dies at 50

Today the very sad news has been announced that Joe Strummer, lead singer with the highly influential 70s punk band the Clash, has unexpectedly died at his home from a suspected heart attack. A post mortem will take place tomorrow.

Born on 21 August 1952, Strummer was born John Graham Mellor in Ankara, Turkey a son of a British Diplomat. As punk broke in London Strummer played in the 101ers before joining Mick Jones and the Clash.

Strummer and Jones created a formidable song writing partnership and penned some of the finest punk tunes of all time mixing social commentary and politics into the highly charged punk rock sound.

Joe who more recently has continued to perform live had only recently completed a tour with his band the Mescaleros.

It is a very sad day and I'm sure the many will morn the loss of this fine person who has died at such a young age. Our thoughts are naturally with his friends and family.
